Police say a Blair County man thanked and tried to high-five the officer who flagged him down for driving without lights on -- only to be arrested on a drunken driving charge.

The Altoona Mirror reported that Gerald Decker, 27, of Tyrone was driving Feb. 19 when a police officer noticed that Decker's car didn't have its lights on and stopped him.

Tyrone Officer Adam Bonsell said Decker told him, "Thanks, buddy," and tried to high-five him. Bonsell told him, "That's not how it works" and gave Decker field sobriety tests. Police said Decker's blood-alcohol level was 2 1/2 times the legal limit for drivers.
