March 02--LAS CRUCES -- A man who allegedly skipped out on paying his bill at a Las Cruces Applebee's during a law enforcement fundraiser Thursday night has been arrested and charged.

According to a report, Alan Golden, 22, was eating dinner with a group of people at the restaurant on Hickory Loop during the Tip-A-Cop fundraiser to benefit New Mexico Special Olympics athletes. The event featured numerous area law-enforcement officers acting as hosts and servers, collecting tips for the benefit.

Dona Ana County Sheriff's deputies say two women with Golden left the restaurant. Golden followed them a short time later, leaving a tab for less than $30 unpaid.

Golden was charged with obtaining services less than $100. He was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center on a $250 surety bond.

Tip-A-Cop is an annual fundraiser sponsored by the Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit New Mexico Special Olympics. This year's event raised $3,440.
