A King City police officer and union president who was fired after his union's no-confidence vote of police Chief Nick Baldiviez has been ordered back to work.

Arbitrator and administrative law judge Daniel Saling found that Baldiviez terminated Chris Craig to "retaliate against the union for their vote of no confidence."

The union vote in July 2010 came after several officers alleged that Baldiviez had showed up at homicide scenes while intoxicated, potentially contaminating the crime scenes. The city manager later investigated the matter and placed Baldiviez on leave.

"This substantiates my original complaint," Craig said of the ruling.
