Feb. 21--Two burglary suspects, including one who crawled through the doggie door at a home, have been arrested after surveillance photographs and video of the separate heists were seen in the media.

Steve Hicks, 19, is charged with burglary of habitation and attempted burglary of habitation, according to the Houston Police Department. He was arrested Feb. 9.

Frankie Joe Stall Jr., 40, also faces a charge of burglary of a building in a separate case, according to police.

Police said Hicks, dubbed the "doggie door bandit" by residents in the neighborhood where he struck, allegedly climbed through the doggie door in the back door of a home in the 1200 block of Bell on Jan. 25 and stole items from inside the house. A surveillance camera at the home photographed him.

After he was arrested, police said, Hicks admitted to investigators he had burglarized the home. He also admitted he had broken a window at another home in the 1900 block of Morse on Jan. 23, but he left quickly when someone inside spotted him.

Stall allegedly broke into Jenni's Noodle House at 602 E. 20th in the Heights on Feb. 9. A surveillance video camera recorded the break-in. A tip from a person who saw the video which was broadcast by the media led to Stall's arrest about five days later.

Police said surveillance cameras can help solve burglary cases.
