Ga. Police Bomb Squad Detonates Package of Pot
Feb. 16--The Macon police bomb squad detonated a suspicious package Tuesday that turned out to contain a large amount of marijuana, according to a police report.
A woman found a large package on her porch at a house in the 4000 block of Suzanne Drive in the early afternoon, the report stated. She opened the package, which contained a second, smaller package. After opening that, she found a third, smaller package. As she attempted to open that one with a knife, the package emitted an odor that made the woman light-headed.
She called 911, which dispatched fire and police units to the scene. Fire investigators found a suspicious, metallic container in the package. Police secured the area and then safely detonated the container. That's when authorities discovered the marijuana.
No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation.
