Vallejo police were investigating the shooting of at least six people including a small girl Monday night at a strip mall on Springs Road.
At about 7 p.m. police responded to a report of multiple shots fired at the strip mall in the 1800 block of Springs Road.
Vallejo police Lt. Jim O'Connell said two women and a 3-year-old girl were shot during a running gun battle that left multiple stores in the area with visible bullet holes.
O'Connell added later that two or three other victims had shown up later at area hospitals Monday night, but he did not know the extent of their injuries.
The two women and the girl were in a strip mall nail salon when the shootings happened, he said.
The extent of the first victims' wounds was not immediately known, but a family member of one of the women and the 3-year-old girl said they were conscious when they were transported to the ambulance.
All three victims were taken to area trauma centers, Vallejo firefighters said.
It was unclear if any of the victims was the intended
O'Connell said they were seeking at least one, possibly two suspects, but did not indicate what prompted the gun fire. Witnesses told the Times-Herald at least two dozen rounds were fired during the gun battle.
The suspects were seen running on foot, and the case is under investigations, police said.
The California Highway Patrol and the Solano County Sheriff's office assisted Vallejo police at the shooting scene.
