Feb. 12--SPRING VALLEY TOWNSHIP A rookie Rock County Sheriff's deputy was treated for frostbite and hypothermia after rescuing a man from a creek in Spring Valley Township, according to a news release from the Rock County Sheriff's Office.
The accident took place at 9:53 p.m. Saturday near South Bohnhoff Road, south of Orfordville.
On arrival, deputies found George W. Franklin, 40, Brodhead, face down in the water and unresponsive.
Rookie Deputy Niles Boeche entered the waist-deep water and remained with him, keeping him alert until firefighters arrive to help the pair out of the water.
