Man Attempts to Run Over Texas cop With His Car
Feb. 07--A 24-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly ran from police and then hit a marked police motorcycle with his car.
Jamichael Jerrod Walker was arrested about 3:20 on Monday on the 3300 block of Zion. Police also found 176.7 grams of marijuana and a gun in his vehicle.
Walker was driving an Oldsmobile Cutlass on Magnetic when an officer on a motorcycle tried to pull him over for the violation.
Walker allegedly refused to stop and kept driving to his apartment complex on the 3300 block of Zion.
Once there, Walker allegedly put the car in reverse and then jumped out. The Cutlass hit the officer's motorcycle, throwing him to the ground.
Walker allegedly attempted to destroy the drugs. Police also discovered he had a felony conviction in Georgia, making it illegal for him to have a gun.
He was arrested and charged with evading arrest, possession of marijuana over 4 ounces but under 5, tampering with evidence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and unlawful possession of a firearm.
Walker was booked into El Paso County Jail on a bond of $50,000.
The officer, who has been with department for 11 years, was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his leg.
