Feb. 05--EL RENO -- A seven-hour standoff between police and an El Reno man began after the man made threatening statements to officers about having a gun and shooting them, Police Chief Ken Brown said.

He said officers were called out to a domestic abuse case at an apartment complex in the 1900 block of S Shepard Avenue about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

The man, identified as Troy Kienlen, then made statements about having a gun. During the standoff, officers learned that Kienlen, 46, also had other outstanding Canadian County warrants, Brown said.

Kienlen surrendered to officers about 3 a.m. Sunday and was booked into the Canadian County jail.
