Jan. 18--HOPEWELL TWP. -- A Hopewell Township man was arrested after police said he assaulted a woman, barricaded himself in a room with an infant and then assaulted officers.

A Hopewell Township police report said officers were called at 11:15 p.m. Jan. 11 to the home of Thomas A. Frazzini, 29, of 3007 Scottswood Drive, for a domestic dispute. Amanda Crosby, no age or address given, told police Frazzini assaulted her and barricaded himself in an upstairs bedroom with their 8-month-old baby.

The police report gave the following account of what happened when police arrived at Frazzini's home:

Officers went to the bedroom door, announced their presence and could hear Frazzini screaming inside the room. An officer was able to open the bedroom door, which Frazzini had blocked with a dresser. Frazzini was on a mobile phone, and the baby was sitting in a car seat on the floor.

Police took Frazzini into custody, and he struck officer Jim Price in the mouth with an elbow. Frazzini struggled with police, refused to walk, dropped to the ground and began to scream and struggle, forcing officers to carry him to the police car. When police attempted to put Frazzini in the police car, he laid on his back and stuck his legs out so officers could not shut the car door.

Frazzini slid out of the car, continued to struggle and kicked officer Miles Newton as Newton attempted to put him back in the car. Frazzini continued to kick Newton several more times, even after Frazzini was stunned with a Taser. Frazzini only complied with police after a second officer then used a Taser on him.

After Frazzini was secured in the police car, a witness told officers Crosby had the baby in a car seat getting ready to leave when Frazzini became angry with her and tried to grab the car seat from her hands. The two struggled, and Crosby eventually let go of the car seat out of fear the baby would fall out or get hurt, police said. At that point, Frazzini took the baby in the seat and ran into the residence. Crosby followed him, and he hit her in the face, causing her to fall backward down the stairs, police said.

Frazzini was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He was released from the Beaver County Jail after posting $20,000 bond.
