Two Ga. Men Accused of Punching Soldiers in Face

Columbus police arrested two men downtown early Sunday on accusations they punched two soldiers in the face, reports state.

Jan. 08--Columbus police arrested two men downtown early Sunday on accusations they punched two soldiers in the face, reports state.

Michael Branch, 24, and Charles Fields, 25, each were charged with battery after the soldiers told officers they were punched, police said.

According to reports, officers learned around 3 a.m. about a dispute at Broadway and 11th Street. The soldiers and two witnesses said Branch and Fields had punched the military men.

One soldier had a red mark on the left side of his face. The other had a small cut to his lip, reports state.

Police say Branch and Fields were still in the area. Officers then arrested both of them.
