A 67-year-old Belfair, Wash., man faced charges Thursday stemming from a million-image child pornography collection, police said.
KOMO-TV, Seattle, reported Donald Oars was arrested Wednesday following a two-year investigation by the Mason County Sheriff's Office.
Police were tipped off by family members, and investigators have been reviewing the cache of photographs of images of 2- to 8-year-olds.
"Very small children being molested and being put into sexually explicit positions. It's sad, it's despicable. These children are damaged and all we can do is penalize the people that continue to damage these kids," Chief Deputy Dean Byrd said.
Byrd said he hopes the investigation will lead to other arrests. Several of the children portrayed in the images allegedly have been identified.
