Dec. 20--While Candlestick Park was in the dark before Monday night's 49ers-Steelers game, police were out in force looking for a bomb.

San Francisco police said that just before kick-off they received a phone threat of an "explosive device" at the stadium. Officers spread out and eventually determined that there was no merit to the threat, and there was no impact to the game, said Sgt. Michael Andraychak.

"Sometimes high-profile events do attract these types of threats," Andraychak said. "We take it seriously."

The 49ers won the game over the Pittsburgh Steelers 20-3 after two blackouts produced brief delays: One after a transformer apparently blew before kickoff, and again after another power outage in the 2nd quarter.
