Dec. 20--FARMINGTON -- Police say a Smithfield man's rush to get to a Christmas party in Norridgewock Saturday night was the reason he sped down the Farmington Falls Road.

Dustin A. Cummings, 19, was clocked by radar traveling south at 90 mph through a 55 mph zone on the road also known as Route 2 East at about 8 p.m.

Farmington police Officer Ted Neil charged Cummings with criminal speed by summons after stopping the speeding car.

Neil also arrested Cummings on a charge of violation condition of release. Cummings' bail conditions on a possession charge out of Augusta includes no criminal conduct; criminal speed is in violation of that.

Cummings was released by the court Monday morning. He is scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 19.
