Dec. 18--MANTECA -- Nearly $300,000 worth of methamphetamine was seized from a home during a search Friday evening, according to the Manteca Police Department.
"It's a sizeable haul, especially considering it's meth," said Officer Jason Hensley, a spokesman for the department.
Daniel Lugo Gascot, 22, of Manteca and Mexican national Miriam Solis, 24, have been arrested for allegedly producing the psychostimulant, according to police records.
A search warrant was served at Gascot's home in the 2000 block of Nantucket Circle on Friday afternoon after he was arrested earlier in the day by the California Highway Patrol in Madera, Hensley said.
Gascot had roughly a pound of methamphetamine in his car when CHP officers arrested him, he said.
About 3 p.m. Friday, officers from Manteca's Street Crime Unit and State Parole swarmed the Manteca home and found a sizeable production and distribution operation, Hensley said.
There were scales, baggies and the garage housed several vehicles with disguised compartments for storing drugs, police said.
Eight pounds of methamphetamine, worth roughly $277,000, were found in the home, Hensley said.
Personal use for methamphetamine users can typically be between 2 to 5 milligrams per fix, Hensley said. The figure is based on Hensley's experiences on patrol contacting users, he said.
Solis was arrested after she was found inside the home as police searched it, Hensley said. She could face charges of possession and distribution of a controlled substance, police said.
Additionally, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has placed a federal detainer for her illegal immigrant status, police said.
Gascot has a $1 million bond stemming from his CHP arrest and a separate $1 million bond for allegations against him in San Joaquin County, according to police.
