Dec. 12--STOCKTON -- A Stockton man was arrested Saturday night for resisting arrest, attempting to run over a firefighter, and attempting to injure police officers with a large crucifix.

Jerry Moore, 50, was taken into custody at 5:37 p.m. Saturday when officers were dispatched to the 800 block of MacDuff Avenue where he was reportedly under the influence of drugs or alcohol and threatening his family members.

Firefighters were dispatched to the scene for a medical call at the address, and found Moore resistant to their help. Moore got into his truck and tried to back into the firefighters as they approached, police said. When officers arrived, Moore attacked them with a crucifix that he had been wearing around his neck.

A K9 was used to subdue Moore and pull him from the truck. The man was taken to a hospital to be treated for injuries and dog bites.
