HUDSON, N.H. -- A 35-year-old Derry, N.H. man is facing charges he impersonated a police officer while trying convince employees of a doctor's office to give him prescription drugs yesterday.

Police said they were called to Primacy Care of Hudson, Southern New Hampshire Medical Center, at 300 Derry St., Monday about 5 p.m., after employees said a suspicious man who claimed he was a police officer was trying to get controlled substances.

Police identified the man as Daren Gragg, 35, of Derry, and determined he had given employees a fake name, and claimed to be a law enforcement officer. Police said Gragg had a fake driver's license when he was arrested.

He was charged with false personation, attempted theft and license prohibitions. He is being held on $5,000 cash bail.

Outside the doctor's office, police found Melissa Amato, 29, of Derry, who police said had several fake New Hampshire driver's licenses. She was arrested and charged with two counts of license prohibitions. She was released on $1,500 personal recognizance.

Hudson police said Gragg fits the description of a man who has impersonated a police officer elsewhere, and asked any other local police departments with similar investigations to contact Hudson police detectives.
