Calif. Man Stabbed After Asking Woman to 'Shush'

A man was stabbed in the armpit by a woman in San Francisco's Bayview District early Friday after he had asked her to quiet down.

SAN FRANCISCO -- A man was stabbed in the armpit by a woman in San Francisco's Bayview District early Friday after he had asked her to quiet down, police said.

The stabbing was reported at about 1:45 a.m. near the intersection of Newhall Street and Fairfax Avenue.

The 56-year-old victim observed a fight between the woman and another person, according to police.

The victim asked the pair to "keep it down," at which point the woman stabbed him in the left armpit with a knife, police said.

The victim walked several blocks to the nearest pay phone where he called police. He was taken to San Francisco General Hospital to be treated for his injuries, which are not life threatening, according to police.

The suspect, believed to be around 30 years old, ran away.
