Stowe and McKees Rocks have agreed to pay a total of $5,000 to settle a police brutality complaint.

Brian Vratoric, 37, of McKees Rocks claimed in the lawsuit that Stowe police Officer Molly Connolly and McKees Rocks police Officer Erica Miller injured him during a Feb. 22, 2009, arrest for speeding, reckless driving and fleeing police. Vratoric pleaded no contest to nine charges in September 2010 and was sentenced to 18 months of probation, according to court records.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Mitchell approved the settlement on Monday. Jack Cambest, Stowe's solicitor, said Tuesday that Stowe and McKees Rocks will each pay Vratoric $2,500.
