Deputies from the Berks County sheriff's department fugitive warrants division and members of the U.S. Marshal Service task force surrounded a house on North Ninth Street on Tuesday afternoon and captured a convicted drug dealer who was wanted for a probation violation.

Roshad Laboy, 21, address unavailable, was taken to Berks County Prison without bail after he was arrested about 2:30 in the 300 block of North Ninth Street, according to Chief Anthony Damore Jr. of the sheriff's department.

According to investigators:

Deputies and members of the task force went to the neighborhood after they received information from state police that Laboy was at a house in the block.

They surrounded the house. Laboy spotted them and tried to escape by jumping out of a window and running through a breezeway.

He was immediately captured without incident.

While deputies had Laboy on the ground, a car pulled up and deputies heard a gunshot. No one was hit, but they reported it to city police. It was unclear if the person in the car shot at the deputies.

Laboy was taken to the central booking facility at the courthouse and then to prison.

Laboy was on probation for delivering a controlled substance, Damore said.

Berks County Probation Officer Brian Harting said Laboy violated his probation.

Judge Linda K.M. Ludgate issued a warrant for his arrest on June 6.
