The Arlington officer thought the driver was going to hit another officer with his vehicle.

An Arlington patrol officer fired one shot at the driver of a vehicle who started to drive away from a traffic stop Monday night, authorities said Tuesday.

The officer thought the driver was going to hit another officer with his vehicle, according to a news release from police spokeswoman Tiara Richard.

No one was injured in the incident, which occurred about 10 p.m. in the 5400 block of Matlock Road.

An officer had pulled over a vehicle and was walking toward it when the driver started to drive off, Richard said. The second officer fired one shot.

Officers found a large amount of marijuana in the vehicle, according to a police report. The driver and a passenger were arrested.

Jerron Delayne Lollis was in the Arlington Jail on Tuesday night facing charges of assault on a public servant, evading arrest and delivery of marijuana, jail records say. His bail was $33,000. Percy Dillon III faces charges of delivery of marijuana with bail set at $20,000.
