A 42-year-old Central El Paso man allegedly robbed a convenience store using an ignited blow torch, police said.
Police allege that at 12:12 a.m. today, Osbaldo Estrada entered the 7-Eleven store at 3601 Montana and confronted the store's clerk with the lighted blow torch and demanded cash from the register. The clerk was able to run out and flag down a passing patrol officer.
As the officer stopped, Estrada ran out of the store and the officer gave chase. Estrada was caught with the blow torch, police said.
Estrada faces an aggravated robbery charge and was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $150,000 bond.
