Tennessee Deputy Shot in Face

A Trousdale County deputy is in critical condition after he was shot in the face early Monday morning, according to WSMV-TV.

Sgt. Howard Cooley and another deputy responded to a domestic dispute call on Coker Lane in Hartsville around 12:45 a.m. when the incident occurred.

The deputies confront David Graves, who refused to drop his weapon, Sheriff Ray Russell told the news station.

Cooley exchanged gunfire with Graves and both were wounded.

Both men were transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center and both are listed in critical but stable condition.

The 10-year veteran was shot in the shoulder and neck and is expected to undergo surgery.

Officials are still determining what charges Graves may face.
