Honolulu Officers Injured Breaking Up Street Fight

A 23-year-old man allegedly tackled one officer then allegedly struck another officer in the face

Two police officers were injured while trying to break up a street fight in Whitmore Village Saturday night when a 23-year-old man allegedly tackled one officer then allegedly struck another officer in the face, police said.

The suspect was arrested for investigation of first-degree and second-degree assault on law enforcement officers.

Police were sent to break up a fight on the street around 10:40 p.m. and were separating people when the 23-year-old suspect allegedly tackled one officer, causing the officer to fall head first into the road, police said.

The officer was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.

The 23-year-old man tried to flee when he allegedly struck a second officer in the face, causing minor injuries, police said.
