Ga. Deputies Arrest Man After High-Speed Chase

Bibb County sheriff's deputies arrested a Macon man with outstanding warrants after he lead deputies on a 40-minute chase just before 3 a.m. Saturday, a news release said.

Deputies arrested Willie Harvey III, 33, of Macon, and charged him with reckless driviing, eluding police, driving with a suspended license and aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer after he allegedly attempted to run over a deputy with his vehicle during the pursuit. Harvey also received several traffic charges.

Deputies attempted to stop a red Hyundai Sonata for a tail light being out when Harvey refused to stop, the news release said. He was finally stopped after 40 minutes on Ocmulgee East Boulevard. Harvey had three outstanding warrants, including probation violations of superior and state courts and a bench warrant for child support enforcement. One of the probation violations was for aggravated assault on a police officer, the news release said.

Harvey was taken to the Bibb County jail.
