NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- Two suspects in a West Haven deli robbery that took place last month were arrested in New Haven Tuesday night, according to police.
Frank Perkins, 18, of New Haven and Shaquanda Petaway, 19, of West Haven were arrested and held overnight on a $250,000 bond, according to West Haven police. They are scheduled to be arraigned in Milford today.
According to police, around 3:20 p.m. Oct. 19, the two robbed the Campbell Deli and Grocery at 739 Campbell Ave. in West Haven at gunpoint. The male suspect tried to open the cash register while the female stole packs of cigarettes. When the clerk confronted them, the male pointed a handgun at her, and the clerk ran out of the store unharmed. The two suspects then fled the scene with the stolen cigarettes.
Perkins faces charges of first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, first-degree reckless endangerment, first-degree conspiracy to commit reckless endangerment, sixth-degree larceny and second-degree breach of peace. Petaway is charged with first-degree robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, first-degree reckless endangerment and conspiracy to commit reckless endangerment in the first degree.
