A Pasco County deputy's quick thinking -- and his Facebook account -- helped end a standoff Wednesday morning, according to The St. Petersburg Times.
Deputies responded to the house in Odessa at 1626 Chesapeake Drive around 11 a.m. after a man got into an argument with his wife, barricaded himself in a shed and said he was "going to do something to make the cops kill me."
Members of the sheriff's office searched for a way to contact the man and found out that while there wasn't a phone in the shed, there was a computer.
Cpl. Art Morrison II, a member of the department's hostage negotiating team, decided to send a Facebook friend request to the man.
The man accepted the invite and the two engaged in a conversation.
The man eventually left the shed at Morrison's request, officials said.
He was immediately taken into custody and no one was injured in the standoff.
