AMERICAN CANYON, Calif. -- A Richmond man was arrested early Sunday after he was found making a sandwich in a stranger's home, American Canyon police said.
At about 3:35 a.m., police received a report of a prowler inside a home in the 200 block of West Carolyn Drive, and that the homeowner was detaining the subject inside the home.
At least two people were home when they heard noises from the kitchen, police said.
When they went to check, they saw a man preparing a sandwich in the kitchen. One resident then grabbed a large wooden stick, and ordered him to the ground in the living room until police arrived, police said.
The man, Carlos Garcia Jr., 19, appeared to be intoxicated, police said, and told them that he thought he was in his cousin's house. It was unclear how Garcia entered the home.
He was arrested on suspicion of burglary and public intoxication, and booked into Napa County jail.
