Los Angeles Police Shoot Man Brandishing Knife
LOS ANGELES -- A man has been injured in as officer-involved shooting Sunday after he was spotted with a knife.
Police received a report of a man with a knife near the intersection of Los Angeles and 7th streets around 4:45 p.m. Sunday.
A woman saw the man walking around with a knife and called 911, LAPD Sgt. Mitzi Fierro said.
Officers repeatedly asked the 50-year-old man to drop the weapon, but he refused. He allegedly told officers to shoot him before they opened fire.
The suspect was hit in the torso and was taken to a local hospital, Sgt. Fierro said. He is now listed in stable condition.
Streets were closed during the investigation.
No officers were injured.
