Nov. 11--Portland police are investigating an accident in which an officer was temporarily pinned under a vehicle in Southwest Portland.

Early reports indicate that an officer was involved in some sort of situation with a suspect when she was pinned under a car just east of the intersection of Southwest Macadam and Boundary, across the street from Pier 1 Imports.

The accident appears to have involved a silver Audi TT convertible with Oregon plates. It had flipped over along the railroad tracks that run parallel to Macadam and just to the east.

About 6 p.m., a man was sitting on the lawn of a nearby condominium and was being interviewed by officers. He could be heard apologizing for any trouble he had caused and a woman was in a nearby ambulance. It wasn't clear if the woman in the ambulance was the police officer.

An employee at Pier 1 said there were "a ton of cops" outside, but she couldn't see much more and a reporter counted about 15 Portland police cars on the scene.

Radio reports indicated that the officer was freed about 5:35 p.m., but there was no report about her injuries or condition.
