A car changing lanes haphazardly and a drug dog's keen nose led to the Tunnel Hill Police Department being able to pull more than 16 pounds of marijuana off I-75 on Monday, authorities said.

Kenneth Marshan Gay, 20, of 648 Glendora Ave. in Akron, Ohio, was charged Monday by the Whitfield County Sheriff's Office with sale of or intent to sell marijuana and trafficking in marijuana.

"One of our officers noticed a Chevy Malibu traveling northbound that was swerving, and when he pulled it over his suspicions were raised," said Police Chief Roy Brunson without elaborating. "He got the dog out, it 'alerted' (detected) and (the officer) found a large brick wrapped in cellophane inside a garbage bag."

Brunson said the 16.6 pounds of the drug has a street value of $25,000.

Gay was released from the jail on Tuesday on a $20,000 bond, a jail spokeswoman said.
