An attempted robbery and shooting sent two city men to an area hospital early Wednesday.
Baltimore City police, responding to a call of gunshots fired in the 800 block of Murphy Lane in the Heritage Crossing Community, found the victims, who are both 20. The men told police they were walking through the neighborhood shortly before midnight when they encountered a group of five young males who threatened them with guns and attempted to rob them.
When the victims ran from the scene, the assailants fired multiple shots at them, police said. One victim was shot in the leg and hand, and the other sustained a leg wound.
The injuries are not life threatening, police said.
