Teenager Accused of Assaulting Pennsylvania Officer
A teenager is accused of assaulting a Jeannette patrolman and verbally abusing other officers.
Anthony Owen Ressler, 19, no address listed by police, faces charges of aggravated assault, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest stemming from an incident on Wednesday at a Stewart Street residence.
According to an affidavit of probable cause, city police heard someone yelling obscenities inside the house. Ressler came to the door and police attempted to arrest him when the obscenities were directed at the officers, police said.
"When I grabbed Ressler to put cuffs on him, he struck this officer in the chest with both of his hands pushing me backwards," Patrolman John Ryan wrote in the affidavit. "At this time, I had to take Ressler to the ground, Ressler grabbed hold of my bulletproof vest and refused to let go."
Police said once Ressler was threatened with a Taser, he complied with commands.
At the police station, marijuana was found in Ressler's pocket, police said. He was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled before Jeannette District Judge Joseph DeMarchis on Thursday.
