Nov. 04--CHICAGO -- Tonight, tough news inside the Chicago Police Department: one of its off duty officers was found badly beaten and dumped in a sewer trap on her own property.
The victim's family has told WGN that the person police are questioning may be the victim's own grandson. 55-year-old Hester Scott was a 25 year veteran of the force. Her brother claims she spent a year and a half trying to gain custody of her four grandchildren from her daughter. Eventually she did. She even built an addition on her home to make room for the kids.
Just before noon Friday, officers responded to an "open door" call in the 8800 block of S. Wallace. When they arrived, Scott was found beaten to death.
Area 2 detectives are investigating the domestic incident tonight.
No charges have been filed.
