SAN ANTONIO--

San Antonio police said a man's bragging is what helped identify him as a suspect in a bank robbery.

Marco Barrera, 20, was arrested Saturday on a charge of felony theft in excess of $200,000.

An arrest affidavit stated that a police informant told deputies that he had several conversations with Barrera in which the suspect admitted to being involved in the Oct. 21 robbery of an IBC Bank on Southeast Military Drive.

The informant told police that Barrera repeatedly told him how he was able to pull off the robbery without a gun.

Police said they followed up on the tip and found about $84,000 of the stolen money inside Barrera's home, along with a bank bag taken during the robbery, the affidavit stated.

Barrera admitted to police that he robbed the bank, the affidavit stated.

A bank employee told police that Barrera approached her as she was unlocking the bank and demanded access to the safe, the affidavit stated.

Barrera used spray paint to black out the surveillance cameras, took about $270,000 from the safe and drove off in the bank worker's car, the affidavit stated.

The affidavit mentions two additional suspects, but it does not say whether they've been arrested.
