State and Nanticoke police on Wednesday arrested four people and seized illegal drugs during a raid at an East Main Street apartment, according to charges filed.
The bust unfolded Wednesday about 4:30 p.m. at 434 E. Main St., the site of multiple undercover drug buys during a lengthy investigation, police said.
Authorities arrested Karl Traynham, 28, and Hector Lopez, 22, who resided at the apartment, and two Brooklyn, N.Y., suspects: William Reid, 23, and Nigel Sandy, 24.
According to arrest papers:
During the raid, police seized 842 bags of heroin, 34 grams of crack cocaine, 2 grams of marijuana, a handgun and $3,518 in cash.
The raid followed undercover drug purchases made at the apartment by a confidential informant working with state and local police.
Traynham, Lopez, Reid and Sandy each face multiple drug charges and were arraigned Thursday morning in Wilkes-Barre Central Court. Each were jailed in the Luzerne County Correctional Facility.
As part of the investigation, people searched a vehicle operated by Reid, who told police the vehicle is owned by an uncle in Williamsport and he recently drove it to Nanticoke from New York City. Investigators seized a loaded firearm and three bags of heroin from the vehicle.
Investigators said the vehicle was sprinkled by deodorizing materials, commonly used by drug dealers to thwart the scent of police canines. Reid faces additional charges for illegal possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.
