HOLLYWOOD-
Rudi, the K-9 that was in the back of a police cruiser during a crash last week on Broward Boulevard, is being released from the Hollywood Animal Hospital Monday afternoon.
Last Tuesday, Rudi and K-9 Officer Curtis Hampton were driving along West Broward Boulevard when a gold SUV crossed over the median and directly into their path. Police say the cruiser and the SUV collided. Another car traveling behind Hampton also crashed into the rear of the patrol car.
Plantation police said the accident left Officer Hampton with multiple fractures to both arms and both legs.
Rudi had to be coaxed out of the back seat of the damaged cruiser by rescuers, and rushed to the Hollywood Animal Hospital. Veterinarians said he had suffered chest trauma and was in extreme shock, but has since recovered.
