Sept. 30--Pittsburgh police have arrested a state police liquor control officer accused in a drunken driving crash involving a state-owned car Downtown.

Tyrribea Flood, 39, of West Mifflin, failed to stop her state-issued Ford Fusion and rear-ended a BMW on Ninth Street just before Penn Avenue about 11:50 p.m. Thursday, police said.

No one was injured and Flood was exchanging information with the other driver when an officer who was working the traffic lights following the Pitt-South Florida football game walked over, police said.

The officer smelled alcohol on Flood's breath and asked her for her driver's license, police said. Flood did not have it and instead showed a work ID card and said that she was driving her work vehicle, police said.

Flood was taken into custody for a breathalyzer test. Police said she had a blood alcohol content of .117. The legal limit for driving is 08.

Flood was released to her family. Police charged her with driving under the influence, following too closely and other counts.

Flood has been an officer for the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for about 10 years, said state police Sgt. Anthony Manetta. She is responsible for inspecting establishments that serve alcohol to ensure they obey state liquor laws, he said. It was unclear whether she was working at the time of the crash, Manetta said.

The incident is under investigation.
