MIAMI --
A man was arrested Thursday morning after police said he hit a police officer in the head with a baseball bat.
Miami police said Officer Luis Munne, 32, was investigating an abandoned house at 751 NW First St. when Daniel Santiago, 31, hit him in the head with the bat.
While Munne called for backup, Santiago barricaded himself in the abandoned home, police said.
A SWAT team and K-9 units searched for Santiago. He was soon arrested and charged with one count of battery on a law enforcement officer, one count of resisting arrest without violence, one count of resisting arrest with violence and one count of trespassing on property.
Munne was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for testing. He had bumps and bruises and is expected to be released Thursday evening, police said.
