LYNNWOOD, Wash. --
A Washington State Patrol trooper was rushed to Harborview Medical Center after a car plowed into his patrol car parked along Interstate 5 in Lynnwood.
The crash happened at about 10:45 p.m. on southbound I- 5 at 196th Street Southwest.
Trooper Keith Leary told KIRO 7 Eyewitness News the injured trooper was parked on the shoulder of the freeway when another car hit him at full speed.
Rescue crews had to extricate the trooper from his mangled patrol car.
Leary said the trooper was set to be released from the hospital later Tuesday morning with just bumps and bruises.
A police dog named Buster appeared to survive the crash without any injuries.

The four people in the car that hit the trooper were not seriously hurt.
Officers arrested the 19-year-old woman who was driving that car.
According to a Snohomish County police document, the woman, who is eight weeks pregnant, admitted to having a sip of alcohol. The document said a cup of liquor was passed around the car as she drove, and police found a cup that smelled like alcohol near the car after the crash.
A Lynnwood officer who is a drug recognition expert evaluated the woman. His opinion was that she under the influence of depressants and marijuana, documents said.
She was taken to Swedish Hospital where a blood drawn was done.
She could be charged with reckless endangerment, vehicular assault and/or minor in possession of alcohol.
All southbound lanes of the interstate were blocked until around 2:30 a.m.
