SEELYVILLE, Ind. --
An Indiana State Police trooper and a woman were injured when a police car and an SUV collided in Vigo County on Tuesday evening.
The crash happened about 5:30 p.m. on U.S. 40, just east of Seelyville.
ISP said the Trooper Don Curtis, 30, a four-year veteran of the department, had his lights and siren on and was westbound on his way to a call of a burglary in progress in the southern part of the county.
Investigators said Curtis came up behind two vehicles in the right lane of the road. As the driver of one of the vehicles slowed down and pulled off to the right, the second vehicle moved into the passing lane as the trooper was trying to get around that driver.
"This movement caused the trooper to take evasive action and veer to the left. In doing so, the trooper's car collided with an eastbound 2005 Chevy Tahoe," said ISP Sgt. Joe Watts.
Curtis and the driver of the SUV, Janetta England, 52, of Brazil, suffered injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.
