REVERE (AP) -- An apparent electrical fire at the Massachusetts state police barracks in Revere has caused smoke and water damage estimated at $30,000 and forced officers to declare that no prisoners will be held at the facility until repairs are complete.
Police say that the fire broke out at about 5:45 p.m. Monday. Revere firefighters responded to the blaze that was contained to the south side of the building. There were no injuries.
Part of the exterior wall was also damaged.
Police say the barracks will remain open and all normal functions will continue, but no prisoners will be held at the facility until repairs are completed.
