Local Musician Accused of DUI, Hitting Cruiser in Hawaii

Ukulele recording artist Taimane Gardner is scheduled to face a District Court judge July 26, on charges of drunken driving, after hitting a patrol car early Sunday morning.

A 36-year-old officer responded to a call on Kuhio Avenue near Nohonani Street Sunday when Gardner, 22, broadsided the officer's car, police said.

Paramedics rushed the officer to a hospital for treatment of her injuries. She was later released, according to police.

A few hours before the crash, Gardner was playing at the Waikiki Sandbox, according to her Facebook page. Gardner posted $500 bail.
