CHICAGO -- A shooting that wounded two young girls near a park on the northwest side of Chicago has led to a massive crack down on a street gang.

Two girls, ages 2 and 7, were at Avondale Park on June 8 when gunshots were fired.

The 2-year-old was grazed in the head.

The 7-year-old was seriously wounded in the back.

Antonio Bucio was charged with the shootings and is an alleged member of well known street gang.

Prosecutors say Bucio admitted to shooting at rival gang members at the park, when the girls were wounded.

The Chicago Sun-Times reports that's what led Police Superintendent Garry McCarthy to declare war on that gang.

McCarthy reportedly told police supervisors, "We're going to obliterate that gang.. Every one of their locations has to get blown up until they cease to exist."

Police followed that up by making 120 arrests in the next two weeks.

There are 300 to 500 members of the well known street gang.

Since the arrests, 19 are still in jail, five were sent to prison for violating parole, and the rest are out on bond.

McCarthy's crack down on gang members follows an effort by his predecessor Jody Weis.

Weis warned West Side gangs that the police would come after their organizations if one member committed a murder.
