Ga. Sheriff Is Critical After Wreck With Grandson

SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. --

The Spalding County sheriff was seriously injured in a car wreck Thursday afternoon with his own grandson.

The Sheriff's Department said Sheriff Dee Stewart pulled onto SR 1941 coming off of Moose Lodge Road, when his grandson struck his car at about 1:30 p.m.

The Sheriff's Department said Stewart was flown to Atlanta Medical Center with critical injuries.

Deputies said the grandson, who is in his mid 20s, had minor injuries.

The Georgia State Patrol is investigating the crash.
