DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, Ohio --
A Warren County sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck Wednesday afternoon while the deputy was responding to a report of another crash.
Deputy Mark Pelfrey was on his way to the scene of a crash with injuries just after 3 p.m. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said he was driving north on Butler Warren Road near Tylersville Road with his emergency lights and siren activated.
Police said a 16-year-old boy driving south in a Chevrolet Cobalt went left of the center line. Police said Pelfrey swerved to avoid the Cobalt but struck the vehicle, then drove off the road and struck a utility pole, snapping it in half.
Pelfrey was transported to West Chester Medical Center with minor injuries. He was treated and released.
The 16-year-old was not injured. Police released him to a parent at the scene.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating the crash.
