BAKERSFIELD, Calif. --

A deputy sheriff was arrested Thursday for falsifying information on her time sheets.

In early May, Kern County sheriff’s detectives began investigating allegations that a deputy sheriff had knowingly falsified time sheets.

Detectives said they determined that deputy sheriff, 25-year-old Kacie Craven, had submitted time sheets which reflected she had worked on days she had not worked.

The investigation revealed Craven had defrauded the County of Kern of $3,300 in pay and benefits as a result of the falsified time sheets. Craven, who is a three year veteran of the sheriff’s office, was assigned to the Central Receiving Facility during the time the falsified time sheets were submitted, according to the sheriff's department.

As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to obtain a warrant for Craven charging one count of embezzlement, one count of knowingly falsifying records and one count of fraudulent accounting.

On Thursday, Craven met with detectives at the Central Receiving Facility and was arrested on the outstanding warrant.

She was booked into the Central Receiving Facility.
