MONROE, Wis. --
The Monroe Police Department said a man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving after he backed his pickup truck into an officer's squad car early Saturday morning.
Deputies were sent to the 2500 block of 5th Street in the city of Monroe at about 3:20 a.m. Saturday to investigate a report of a pickup truck backing into the front of a Monroe Police Department squad car.
Authorities said that Monroe police officer Mike Mortimer saw a Ford F150 pickup truck parked in the road.
Police said the driver of the pickup, Adam L. Berndt, 43, of rural Monroe, was passed out behind the steering wheel and kept the truck in reverse.
Berndt woke up and accelerated, backing his truck into the front of the officer's squad car, police said.
There were no injuries reported.
The police squad car sustained moderate front-end damages and Berndt's truck had very minor scratches to the rear bumper, police said. Both vehicles were driven from the scene.
Monroe police said they arrested Berndt on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, first offense. Police said Berndt was also cited for operating with a prohibited alcohol content and unsafe backing.
