Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. announced the latest software update for the Thermo Scientific AhuraFD, the award-winning handheld Raman instrument for field-based chemical identification, formerly sold as Ahura Scientific FirstDefender. Deployed globally by hazmat teams, law enforcement, bomb squads and military personnel, AhuraFD enables first responders to quickly identify unknown chemicals, even through sealed containers. AhuraFD version 2.7.2 includes a larger substance library and several enhancements to the user interface for explosives applications.
AhuraFD and other Thermo Scientific chemical identification tools are in active use by military, federal and civilian first responders around the world. With this update, these field-proven tools are able to identify more than 11,000 chemicals including explosives, chemical intermediates and precursors, narcotics, white powders and more. The proprietary automatic mixture analysis enables AhuraFD to accurately identify individual components of millions of mixtures without spectral subtraction or subjective evaluation.
