This state-of-the-art application, developed by Hardcat, delivers unprecedented levels of operational efficiency and evidence integrity to investigative information management. The Exhibits Forensics Information and Miscellaneous Property System (EFIMS) software is providing police officers with better tools to manage their business and their investigations.

The EFIMS solution was developed on Microsoft’s Silverlight rich internet development platform. Police are able to use EFIMS to track evidence and information gathered in investigations through their full lifecycle from crime scene or seizure to court room and ultimate disposal or long-term storage. It will also support the creation of tasks and jobs and provide complete workflow automation for real time routing of work to the most applicable service providers and officers for attention.

The EFIMS system can be integrated with an agency's mainframe to provide complete transparency on cases, events and incidents in relation to jobs and tasks that officers perform in the field and manages the workflows of those tasks via a centralised business rules and workflow engine. It allows investigating officers and prosecutors a better method for managing and validating crime scene evidence integrity (including protecting the continuity cycle of seized drugs, DNA samples and other critical evidence) and any associated information supplied in the course of investigations.
